HISTORY

The boat and island's namesake…

Miss Charity Isle is the last boat built by Melvin Brown, my grandfather. It was constructed January through June and first launched in June of 1955. Growing up in the commercial fishing industry, Mel transitioned to charter fishing following the decline in whitefish. Brown's Landing RV Park grew organically as the need to house fishermen grew over time. My parents, Jerry and Elaine, assumed control of the business in 1977. From 1955 through 2000, Miss Charity Isle made two trips a day on perch fishing excursions.
